Homemade Hamburger Buns

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup honey
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (one instant yeast packet)
1 cup warm water
1 egg, room temperature
3 TBSP unsalted butter cooled to room temp
For toppings
1 egg mixed with 1 TBSP of milk or water
Sesame Seeds (optional for garnish on top)
Instructions
- In a small bowl combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Cover with a towel and let sit until yeast activates (bubbles form)
- While that is rising in a mixing bowl add your flour, egg, and softened butter. Once the yeast mixture is bubbly add to the flour mixture and combine.
- If using an electric stand mixer attach a dough-hook attachment and mix on a medium-low speed until dough does not stick to edges of bowl, approximately 3 to 5 minutes. If hand mixing knead with hands until dough is smooth and elastic. If needed, add up to 6 TBSP of additional flour.
- Transfer dough to an oiled bowl and let sit covered until doubled in size, approximately 1hour.
- Once doubled in size, punch dough down and separate into 8-10 balls.
- Once the dough is in ball form place in a greased 9×13 pan and cover and let rise a second time in a warm place.
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Once rolls have risen brush egg mixture on top gently, as to not inflate the risen rolls. Then sprinkle on the sesame seeds.
- Place on top rack in your preheated oven and bake for 12-14minutes or until tops are golden.
- Once done, let cool and cut in half and enjoy with your favorite burger toppings.
